Chrome for iOS Updated ( WKWebView )
Finally, the news we’ve been waiting for for ages, Chrome gets a new rendering engine, actually, the old one that Safari has been using from the dawn of WebKit. Meet WKWebView! And with this update, Chrome will finally start showing content like Safari Does!
As a mobile and tablet site template developer, we could not be happier to see this release happen, since most of the web on iOS and Android run on WebKit, Chrome started experimenting some new things on iOS, which lead to crashes upon crashes and different problems and issues with even the simplest code, isn’t it Ironic that these issues were all skipped on Android?
Probably Google realized what a big mistake it made when it started having more Crashes on iOS than all the app in the AppStore combined and finally gave Chrome the update it deserved!
There’s also another great feature called Data Saver that will allow Chrome users the ability to manage the data usage while outside of their Wi-Fi networks. It pretty much does the same thing it’s been doing on Androids for the past year or so, but it finally hit iOS!
For those of you who don’t have automatic updates turned on, be sure to go ahead and get it from the iTunes AppStore.
Tell us what you think? Are you still experiencing crashes? Is the DataSaver a want or a must for you?
